Highlight Your Eyes with an Eye Brightener

The last few months have been hectic at both home and at work, and it has truly shown in the areas around my eyes. My dark circles have become more pronounced and my entire eye area has been looking dull and drab. So I thought that this may be a great time to talk about eye brighteners, and how wonderful they are to make you look rested and bright-eyed.

First, what is an eye brighter? It’s a product that you can use around your eyes that can add a subtle highlight and brightness to the area to improve the overall look of your face. In my opinion, the best eye brighteners are a combination of brightness, hydration and a bit of color correction. They aren’t concealers, but they can be used in conjunction with concealers. Because they usually add a bit of hydration, they make your concealer go on more smoothly and helps keep it from creasing.

I have a couple of eye brighteners that I like, so I wanted to highlight my favorites below.

The Lune+Aster HydraGlow Undereye Brightening Corrector ($28) is one of my favorites. It does so many things so well. It hydrates, brightens and has some color correction to hide my dark circles. I find that concealer goes on flawlessly over it and it never causes my makeup to slip or break apart. I highly recommend this product if you have fair or medium skin, as it only comes in one color.

The Smashbox x Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector ($33) is another great option. It has less slip than the one by Lune+Aster, so it’s great for someone with oilier skin. It also comes in four different shades, so it’s definitely can be used by more people. It also has more pigment, so while it has less hydration, it has more coverage. And the more coverage may allow you to use this instead of a concealer!

Your guide to the best under eye brighteners!

The last one I want to mention is the Nars Light Reflecting Undereye Brightener $34). This is the one of the three that has the most shades – 6 overall – and also provides the most coverage. It has medium hydration and is one of the most popular under eye brighteners out there. It’s a great option and is readily available in Sephora and other stores.
